My sweet, sweet Jen broke her thumb yesterday :( ....playing 4 square at school, of all things! She said the ball just bummed into her hand really hard.
When I picked her up from the bus she told me her thumb hurts. Your thumb hurts?? That's random! Then she told me what happened and we looked at it. It was swollen and bruising. I thought she had just jammed it pretty badly. We went home to ice it and continued on with our evening. After her shower she came and told me it hurt a lot more, and it was more swollen and more blue. Jeremy wasn't home so I had to make a decision on my own to take her in for an x-ray or make her tough it out....ok, so not so much on my own, I actually talked with my mom & my sister and texting pictures, WE all decided it was a good idea. And it's a good thing I did! It's broken on the bottom knuckle. The dr. wasn't sure if her growth plate was ok or not so next we need to go see a hand surgeon. :(
So after all this, Jennie wanted to go to school today! I gave her the option to choose herself, and she chose to go. So I loaded her up with ibuprofen, emailed her teacher and sent her to school. This sweet girl of mine is one tough cookie! She's been like this her whole life, in every aspect of life. She never gives up on anything and stays strong. I've learned a lot from this sweet spirit and I love her SO SO much! Today I'm thankful for my Jennie!
