On Monday, December 10th, 2007, I had a dr.'s appointment. I was 39 weeks and just wanted to be done! The pregnancy was hard & I was tired. My dr. said he could induce me on Wed. and I said "why not tomorrow?" and then I explained about Jennie's birthday on Thurs. He said "As long as you can be done by noon I can do that." I agreed so he set up a time with the hospital for me to be there at 6:00 in the morning. (I later found out from my nurse that it was his day off...wasn't that nice of him!) That night was VERY crazy!!! Trying to get the other kids to the places they would stay. I had last minute shopping to do and lots of other things I don't now remember. I do remember I didn't make it to bed till about 12:30-1:00 and woke up at 4:30 to get ready and be at the hospital by 6:00. And somehow I wasn't at ll tired when I woke or during the labor.
So I got to the hospital around 6:00 and they did all the registering and put in my IV and all those fun things...I was only dilated to a 2 and not very effaced so they needed to put a pill on my cervix to soften it up. I had to drink 32 oz of water and then lay in the bad, flat on my back, for 1 hour (I think) before I could do anything else. (Do you know how MEAN it is to make a huge pregnant woman drink 32 oz & tell her she can't go to the bathroom for at least an hour?!?) Anyway, I made it through that and then at about 9:30 or so the dr. came in and broke my water. I walked around for a while and things started to progress then I got stuck at a 4. The nurse pulled me open during a few contractions and got me to a 7. Then I walked around for a while longer and labor got really hard and consistent but I got stuck again, at a 9. The dr. came in to check on me and after talking to the nurse decided to try to let me push my way to a 10. So with a little pulling by him and a lot of pushing by me I finally made it to a 10. Ryan was born at 1:58 pm. He was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19 inches long.
