My EYE!

A couple weeks ago, after we had taken the kids to school, I was making Ryan some chocolate milk, like I do every morning. While waiting for his milk he was spinning, spinning, spinning...you remember doing that right? SO FUN! He was laughing and spinning and having so much fun...and then he was not! He was crying...like seriously sobbing...out of the blue!! And he couldn't open his eye. He had hit himself in the eye while spinning. I just sort of laughed & held him while he cried. He had hurt himself "FUHRIMAN STYLE" It's kind of choke at our house. I mean seriously...who socks their self in the eye while spinning...yep, one of my kids!! Well, as the day went on Ryan would scream out in pain, just randomly scream. About every 20 minutes or so...a scream & a cry. Well I wasn't sure what was going on & I couldn't see anything wrong with his eye but redness underneath it so I wasn't quite sure what to do. Finally when we picked Ammon up from kindie at noon I called the eye doctor. They wanted to see him that afternoon. We got in at 2:30 still screaming & crying in that time & now he didn't want to open his eye. The doctor number his eye, then put dye in it & showed me the inside of his eye. It was actually pretty cool...all except the part where a big gash was taken out of his lens right over his pupil. When he hit himself he snagged his eyeball with his fingernail...well that's my guess anyway. The doctor put in some antibiotics & patched him up. We were to do this the next 2 mornings & then come back the afternoon of that 2nd day. Ryan hated the patch. I was constantly checking to see if his eye underneath was shut...which it was not...and it was itchy. He was always rubbing at it & asking if he could take it off & why he had to wear it. It was so sad & broke my heart. But we made it those couple days. At the 2nd visit, the doctor put some dye in & showed me again. NOTHING! It was all healed. Not a mark to even suggest anything was wrong. The body is so amazing like that!! 

This is how we passed the time trying to keep his mind off the patch.

Not too happy about it but being a super trooper!
